Your role

UBS Bank (Canada) is currently looking for 4 articling students for the year 2023/24 to assist in our Wealth Planning and Legal departments, respectively. Both students are required to have taken tax law, trust law, estates and securities law at a minimum. In depth corporate law courses would be an asset.

You will be responsible for:
  • prepare and file private placement reporting for certain products sold to Accredited Investors and Permitted Clients with the provincial regulators
  • assist with Wealth Plans which include tax, trust and estate planning issues
  • update brochures and internal documents on tax, trust and estate planning issues
  • assist with our Know Your Product initiatives and other compliance measures affecting our Product lines
  • work on committees addressing legislative amendments affecting our offerings/clients (examples include Reporting Requirements in the Income Tax Act, National Instrument 31-103, Internal Policies related to US Person clients)
  • assist with new product launches (mainly from a security law and tax law perspective)
  • assist with establishment of trusts with UBS Trustees
  • assist with drafting and review of various contracts and other corporate documents including by-laws and resolutions
  • review of privacy policies and procedures and investigate privacy incidents
  • provide oversight of regulatory monitoring and legislative developments, and preparation of regulatory summaries and updates, along with other regulatory initiatives
  • participate in the Firm’s Net Zero initiative and other environmental and climate related projects and work assignments
  • participate in bank-wide projects and provide support to various working groups of the Bank
